Just weeks ago, it was reported that Aaron Rodgers was planning a historic return to the New York Jets after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 of the season.
No player has ever come back from this injury in the same season, however, Rodgers advertised that he was doing an alternative procedure for a torn Achilles and that his recovery time would allow him to potentially return this season.
Unfortunately for Jets fans and bettors across the country, the 18 year veteran might be having a change of heart on if he wants to try and return this season or not with several factors coming into play.
Rodgers was quoted saying that his return is based on his health being the number one priority as well as if the Jets are even in contention to make the playoffs.
As they sit right now, the Jets are 4-7 through 11 weeks of the season and are currently riding a tough four game losing streak with tough matchups still remaining to close out the season against the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and Atlanta Falcons.
From an odds standpoint, the Jets are borderline falling off of every odds board out there. Looking at their odds to win Super Bowl 58, they are the longest they’ve been all season at 25000 which is tied for the sixth longest odds of any other team in the league.
Their AFC Championship odds aren’t any better at 12500 which are the third longest in the conference. As for their division odds, they are in third place behind the Dolphins and Buffalo Bills but still way behind with 15000 odds to win.
YDS | TD | INT | QBR |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 0 | 0 | 2.2 |
Other odds to keep in mind are their projected win total which opened at 9.5 and has since dropped to 6.5 where they have longer odds to even hit the over at 125. Their odds to make the playoffs alone have also take a massive hit since opening with -135 odds to do so and have climbed all the way up to 1000.
On the defensive side of the ball, they’ve been able to hold teams in check with a top front seven and a young but up and coming secondary. It’s the offensive side that has struggled immensely. Zach Wilson and company have thrown for just seven touchdowns on the season and 10 interceptions.
The only bright spots on the offense are Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall who have combined for seven touchdowns and just over 1,100 scrimmage yards.
