The games on Tuesday’s College Football slate likely do not include any teams that the casual fans follow. Despite no Power 5 or Top-25 teams in action, the three FBS games still offer opportunities for bettors.
(Louisiana Tech vs. Middle Tennessee at 7 pm EST on CBSSN)
Both teams will be looking for redemption after losing in primetime spots last week. MTSU fell to 1-5 last Wednesday after failing to 45-30 to Jacksonville State. The Blue Raiders actually led the game 23-7 at the half, only to see Jacksonville State score 38 unanswered points in the second half.
Louisiana Tech got off to a slow start in their game last Thursday, trailing 35-7 to Western Kentucky at halftime. The Bulldogs scored the game’s final 21 points and got the ball back with two minutes left, but threw an interception in the second play of their final drive.
Last season, LA Tech beat MTSU 40-24 in Ruston, Louisiana, but the Blue Raiders are a 2.5-point favorite at home in this matchup.
The Lousiana Tech Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 following a straight-up loss. On the other side, the Blue Raiders have dropped four straight games against the spread and failed to cover in six straight Tuesday games.
I recommend taking Louisiana Tech 2.5

(Coastal Carolina vs Appalachian State at 7:30 pm EST on ESPN2)
The Appalachian State Mountaineers will be looking to improve to 2-0 in Sun Belt play on Tuesday, and Coastal Carolina will be looking to avoid dropping to 0-3 in the conference. These teams have flip-flopped the last four head-to-head meetings, with the home team winning each of those recent games.
The Mountaineers are 3-2 overall this season, with one possession road losses to North Carolina and Wyoming on their resume. The Chanticleers are 2-3, with each of their three losses coming by double digits.
I recommend laying the points on Appalachian State -5.5 at home.
(Liberty at Jacksonville State at 7:30 pm EST on ESPNU)
Both teams are 3-0 in Conference USA play. Head coach Rich Rodriguez’s Gamecocks have already surpassed expectations in their first year at the FBS level, with their only blemish coming on September 9 to Coastal Carolina 30-16. Liberty is a perfect 5-0, and both teams have faced the Sam Houston State Bearkats this season. Jacksonville State went on the road and beat Sam Houston 35-28 in overtime at the end of September, and Liberty beat the Bearkats 21-16 last Thursday at home.
The records are outstanding, but according to the College Football Power Index, Jacksonville State has faced the 130th-rated strength of schedule, and Liberty’s strength of schedule is dead last (133rd). I expect this to be a tightly contested game, and Jacksonville State’s crowd will be excited for the Tuesday night national television game.
Take the Gamecocks and the points to cover the 6.
Tuesday. Football.
