With the NFL regular season beginning to wind down, there are several teams looking to make a late season push to make the playoffs.
One team in particular that has really turned on the heat has been the Detroit Lions and their odds to make the playoffs have shown that they are inching closer and closer.
If there was ever a team that is salivating to make the playoffs, it is the Lions as they have only made the playoffs three times since the year 2000.

NFL oddsmakers could be on to something with the Lions playoff odds though as they are at their lowest point since first opening. Their odds to make the playoffs opened at a measly 475, however, once the season got underway, Detroit got off to a nightmarish 1-6 start which pushed their odds to make the postseason back to 1750.
Since their 1-6 start though, they’ve done a complete 180-degree turn and have gone 5-1 in their last six games. Not to mention, they have covered the spread in all six of those games.
Strengthening their odds to make the playoffs, even more, is their remaining schedule. The Lions remaining four opponents this season have combined for a dreadful 20-32 record and include three opponents who sit with a below .500 record in the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers.
Looking at how the standings sit right now the Lions are 6-7 and two games out from the playoffs behind the Washington Commanders and New York Giants. Both of whom play each other this week. That said, if the Lions win their matchup against the New York Jets in Week 15, they could move just one game out.
It is also worth pointing out that the Lions have been thriving on offense this season as they are top five in points per game going for 26.8 points each week. They are also top-10 in both rushing and receiving yards this season as well.
Although on defense they are also letting up 26 points per game, the three teams that they are playing that are under a .500 record are all in the bottom half of the league in points scored. All of those three teams are averaging 20 ppg or less on their seasons.
On defense, those three teams are also letting up 22 points per game as well. If all plays out though and they beat the teams that they are supposed to, their odds to make the playoffs could be extremely profitable.
