This Sunday at 1 PM EST, the NFC East has a premier matchup that will be key to deciding who will win their division. The first-place Dallas Cowboys (8 – 4) take on the surging Washington Football Team (6 – 6); winners of their last four games.
The primary question going into this matchup is, ‘Which version of the ‘Dallas Cowboys are we getting today?’ Dallas has been rather hot-or-cold lately and given that the Washington Football Team is screaming with confidence on the football field right now, that question lives loudly.
The Dallas Cowboys, leaders in the NFL with the number one ranked overall offense, will continue to seek a balanced offensive attack, but this may be difficult considering Ezekiel Elliott’s nagging injuries and the fact that the Football Team are owners of the third ranked rushing defense. Given that Washington also owns the 30th ranked passing defense, they will look to control the middle of the field on the defensive side with spies, and force the action in the trenches.
On the other side of the ball, Washington Quarterback Taylor Heinike will have a tough day ahead of him as he looks to keep the ball out of the hands of league interception leader Treyvon Diggs hands. In the past four victories, Heinike has thrown for seven touchdowns compared to two interceptions – this trend will need to continue if Washington hopes to win their fifth game in a row, and third in a row against the Dallas Cowboys.
